APW - Rockford, low serial #274, 15J, Model 1, 18S, 4oz coin silver HC recase with octagonal band, attractive engraving detail, gold hinges, white enamel SS dial, KWKS, gilt mvt, marked "Adjusted" and with patent regulator, s#274. A very attractive and notably early example, excellent for the collector of low serial numbered American watches.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, good gilt tone, some short scratches adjacent case screw area, few mild fine to micro-fine scratches elsewhere, few small surface spots, what appears to be a small washer or shim is visible inserted beneath the base of the hairspring stud; dial with scratches near 8, some scattered hls, tiny surface nick above signature, beveling wear around center of seconds-register; fine hands, some areas of oxide to hour; case shows very light wear, an attractive dark patina, some mild nicks to band, no dents, good engraving detail, front lift spring allowing lid to tilt approximately two-thirds toward closed with gravity; tight bow, push shows medium wear; good glass crystal with small surface imperfection above center.
